Tracy received a BA in English and Psychology and an MST in Secondary English Education from SUNY Potsdam in 1993/1994. She holds NY state permanent certification for English 7-12. From 1995-2006 she taught English at Mt. Morris Central School in Mt Morris NY. Nine of those eleven years focused on middle school. As a middle school teacher she teamed with other content area teachers to loop two years of instruction, integrate curriculum, and transform the middle school schedule. The middle school team collaborated with local artist/composer Glenn McClure, through the support of several Genesee Valley Council on the Arts grants, to bring arts into their curriculum. Projects included “What Does Architecture Sound Like, a 9/11 Memorial Tribute, History through Song, and the Environmental Movement.

In 1999 Tracy and her team were honored with the Harvard Radcliffe Award. Tracy represented her middle school team at numerous conference presentations between 1999 and 2007 including NY State Middle Schools, Rural Schools, and School to Work- GLOW, Common Ground and NY State Alliance for Arts Education K-12 University Partnerships.

In the spring of 2006 Tracy and her colleague Sharon Brown collaborated with Sherry Schwartz, Associate Professor SUNY Geneseo School of Education, to bring students from the adolescence social studies methods course into the classroom for targeted clinical practice.

During the 2006-2007 academic years, Tracy left Mt. Morris to supervise student teachers and teach education methods courses as an adjunct at SUNY Geneseo. From 2007-2009 she worked as a visiting Lecturer, teaching 8-10 education classes per academic year.

Two years ago, Tracy assumed the role of Interim Assistant to the Dean at SUNY Geneseo School of Education. Her duties include creating the School of Education class schedule, counseling students, presenting information to prospective students, hiring adjuncts and working closely with the Dean and NCATE coordinator on accreditation and special projects.

Tracy lives in Henrietta, NY. Her children ages 9, 12 and 14 will attend three different Rush- Henrietta schools this fall: Winslow Elementary, Roth Middle School and the Ninth Grade Academy. Tracy volunteers as a foster mom for kittens. She enjoys reading and serves as the Co-Director for Young Author’s and Storytellers on their Board of Directors.
