Michael McDonough holds a BA (Hons) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Reading University (England), an MA from Oklahoma State University, and a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University. In a career that spanned twenty-years at Alfred University, McDonough served as chair of the English Division and as director of Communication Studies. He taught a wide variety of English courses and won several teacher-of-the-year awards. He helped to establish Alfred’s undergraduate research program, founded a summer institute for creative writers, and organized the international travel and study component of the Honors College. He joined MCC in 2007, serving as the dean of liberal arts. McDonough serves on the Academic Advisory Council to the College Board and is a Councilor-at-Large for CUR.
