Fellows Receive Teaching Awards

Congratulations to Ms. Angelique Johnston, Dr. Maria Brandt, and Dr. Thomas Blake who have been recognized for teaching excellence by their peers. Ms. Johnston and Dr. Blake will be receiving awards for excellence from the National Institute for Staff and Organization Development (NISOD) in May 2013. Professor Johnston and Professor Blake have consistently demonstrated a commitment to their students, Monroe Community College, and their continuing development as professionals.

Dr. Maria Brandt was honored with the 2012 Dr. Wesley T. Hanson Award for Teaching Excellence, the most prestigious teaching award granted by Monroe Community College. To quote one of Dr. Brandt’s students, “Professor Brandt adopts a variety of styles as a teacher. She is an energetic and supportive writing coach, an insightful reader of literature, and a skilled leader of discussion…in this class Professor Brandt illustrated some of the most effective pedagogical strategies and she used them with grace and ease.”
